(Alex Gamero is the owner of DiscoveringBelize.com and has lost count of how many hotels and resorts in Belize he's visited.) This resort has accomplished what a lot of resorts claim, but never really achieve. It is a true eco-friendly resort and better yet is committed to the sustainable development of the local community. I feel the best way to describe the experience of staying at Cotton Tree is to recount a testimonial from an actual guest. "The CottonTree Lodge was all I could have ever hoped for in a "heart and soul" Belize experience and MORE: quaint Mayan villages, mysterious caves, ancient ruins, kayaking a jungle river, falling asleep to the sounds of howler monkeys, learning about the lives of the staff, unbelievable hospitality, spontaneous extras and a true commitment by a resort to better the community in which it is located. Even tagging along with Antonio to pick up a turkey in another village was an adventure!
The CottonTree is a gorgeous little bit of luxury in the middle of the jungle. The river is the best pool ever and the river breeze is nature's A/C. We were thrilled with the beautiful cabanas, outstanding food, exciting excursions and a staff that I would welcome each and every one to visit the US and stay in my home. We've never vacationed in the same spot twice. We want something new each time for our vacation dollar. But we WILL be returning to the CottonTree in the future to check up on the friends we made and to support your amazing vision of what an eco-friendly jungle lodge could and should be. Congratulations Chris, Jeff and staff! You've done it! "
