You have to take a water taxi, which runs about every hour, to get in and out of town. On weekends there are boats that run late at night in case you want to stay late in any of the bars in town. The advantage of being north of town is the seclusion. It's quiet and tranquil. El Pescador is a fishing lodge, they have created in nitche for themselves catering to anglers, particularly fly fishermen who come for the islands renowned saltwater flats. It started off with just a 2 story wooden building, which is still part of the property. They have spacious comfortable rooms with balcones that overlook the sea. Here too you'll find the fly shop, with a variety of flies and desk to tie your own flies if you wish. The bar and lounge are is here too with fishing pictures on the wall and a pool table. In front you'll find their pool with a wooden deck and pool chairs. They recently added several 3 bedroom villas which can be divided into 1, 2 or 3 bedroom villas. They are beautifull decorated with vaulted ceilings, warm colors, wooden furniture, spacious wooden decks overlooking the sea, full kitchens and living/dining rooms. They also built 2 new pools for the villas. The beach infront of the property has sea grass, which isn't so goof if you want to swim but excellent if you want to try your luck on some bonefish. The dock also has a casting deck to practice casting on your fly rod. Dinner is served family-style every night with a communal table where everyone can share fishing stories and have a good time. One thing to bare in mind is that you can get great fishing guides no matter what resort you stay in on the island, and it is the quality of the guide that ultimately determines your fishing experience. However, if you truely want to immerse yourself in a fishing atmoshpere during your trip then consider staying at this resort. I recommend this resort for the true fishing afficionado who enjoys sharing stories with other anglers.
